Poggio Gaio is a tiny farm on top of a little hill next to the medieval village of Pian dei Giullari, just 3km south of Florence. All products are grown on the farm with absolutely biological and natural methods. The extra virgin olive oil, the red wine and the Vin Santo wine are among the best in Tuscany, due to the special soil. Under the humus of the surface of the area called Monteripaldi, is the Pietraforte stone - this confers quality to the extra virgin olive oil [made with a cold first pressing] and enhances the flavour of the fruit. Excellent jams, jellies and juices are produced with homemade and strictly biological methods, as well as a variety of fruits and vegetables, and breads of the Tuscan and Florentine tradition.
