The beautiful and tiny island of Erraid stands at the southernmost tip of Mull, only a short way from the island of Iona. Comprising sandy beaches, lush peat bogs and stark craggy granite outcrops, the island, which has been in the care of the Findhorn Foundation for over twenty years, offers sanctuary to a small community as they enjoy a simple, but richly rewarding life. Being here allows them to connect with nature and the elements in a very immediate way, be it growing fruit and vegetables, caring for the animals, confronting the tides and weather or simply enjoying the rugged landscape of the island itself. The heart of the community is the organic garden, and much of the work here is outdoors.
